Robotics at Rice University
Welcome to the webpage of Rice Robotics Initiative (R2i), which
- supports collaboration-building activities for Rice’s existing robotics community,
- identifies and develops strategic partnerships with Houston-area industry and research labs, and
- promotes educational opportunities in robotics for our students.
Research
Rice is home to a growing number of faculty and research groups, working in robotics and robotics-related areas:
- Kavraki Lab
- Mechatronics and Haptic Interfaces Lab (MAHI Lab)
- Human-Centered AI and Robotics Group (HCAIR Group)
- Preston Innovation Laboratory
- Robotics and Physical Interactions Lab (RobotΠ Lab)
- Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab (RiSYS Lab)
- Computational Imaging Group
Together, these groups conduct research across a variety of sub-areas of robotics. For more details, please refer to the research page and the respective lab websites.
Education and Outreach
Students seeking educational opportunities in robotics can find courses and project-based learning opportunities in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Computer Science at the graduate and undergraduate level. For more details, please see the education and outreach pages.
Texas Regional Robotics Symposium (TEROS) 2023
The Texas Regional Robotics Symposium (TEROS) aims to bring together Texas robotics researchers. TEROS is a one-day event with research talks, poster presentations, and social activities. The goal of TEROS is to share exciting ideas and build new connections in the robotics research community in Texas. We are excited to announce that TEROS 2023 will be held on April 14, 2023 at Rice University. For more details, please visit the TEROS webpage.
